It’s not very often you get to play high school sports with a sibling. For the Lankow family, though, it’s a dream come true as sisters Chelsea, Samantha, Kenzie and Lexi get to share the same court as members of the Rothsay varsity volleyball team.

“It’s really a unique experience,” said Chelsie, a senior outside hitter for the Tigers. “I really like it, because my sisters and I are really close. We can read each other and feed off each other’s emotions a little bit different than other teammates.”

“This is really a special thing,” said Samantha, a junior and setter. “It’s so rare. It was a dream of ours. We knew that this one year it could happen and we all made it a goal to get on varsity so we could be together.”

“A lot of people think it’s really cool to have four girls on the court with the same last name,” freshman hitter Lexie said. “I guess we are pretty well known in a small community, so that is cool.”

The four daughters of Glen and Tammy Lankow have become key members of the Tigers’ attack. Chelsie is a four-year varsity player who has played nearly every position on the court. Leading the Tigers in digs and kills, Chelsie has shown why she is a co-captain as coach Heather Reber relies on her knowledge of the Tigers’ scheme.Samantha is calm, cool and collected as she has stepped into the setter role this season for the Tigers, dishing out balls to hitters for attacks.

The twins, Kenzie and Lexi, each bring a different element to the table. Lexi provides a powerful outside hitting, while Kenzie is the best reader on the net, leading the team in blocks.

The sisters have also strived to help one another be successful on the court. (READ THE REST AT Fergus Falls Journal)
